Chris Partington has been painting acrylics and watercolour since 1970, initially a self taught artist who was fortunate to be able to study the great masters whist living in the UK and travelling in Europe and Asia. In recent years he has attended art classes and has just completed an Advanced Diploma in Art and Creativity at The Learning Connexion.
The main theme of Chris's work has been "Time" in various forms, often represented by a Celtic female figure within the landscape. His style moved close and closer to the edge of realism, using actual places and objects painted from life but containing a great deal of symbolism to give the painting meaning beyond the landscape.
Chris Partington has been exhibiting with The New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts since 1999, in 2001 he held a Solo at the Michael Fowler Centre and has had two Solo exhibitions at the Academy galleries in following years. Although an independent artist his paintings can sometimes be found in dealer galleries and are included in private collections in New Zealand and overseas.
